POSITION: WIC Nutritionist – Part-time
LOCATION: Evansville, Indiana
SALARY: $25.02/Hour
DEPARTMENT: Vanderburgh County Health Department – WIC
SUPERVISOR: Director of the WIC Program
- Complete MIS application, certification procedure, and documentation including height, weight, and hemoglobin.
- Evaluate client’s nutritional status through dietary assessment and consultants and make recommendations in relation to nutritional needs, family income, cultural food patterns, home facilities, and modifications in diet.
- Follow guidelines supported by a Participant Centered approach.
- Create and tailor a food prescription using the MIS application that is appropriate to the client’s needs.
- Document assessments, evaluations, counseling, and referrals on the MIS application.
- Provide educational programs for clients in the form of classes or demonstrations and maintain related files and records.
- Provides all pregnant and breastfeeding women with nutrition education opportunities that promote and support breastfeeding.
- Work cooperatively with other staff and community agencies.
Must be one of the following:
- Registered Dietitian
- Bachelors or Master’s degree graduate which, through review of an official transcript from an accredited college, includes the study of nutrition. These degrees include but are not limited to:
- Family and Consumer Sciences, Food and Nutrition in Business, Nutrition, Fitness and Health Nutrition or Nutrition Sciences.
- Public Health Nutrition, Community Nutrition or Clinical Nutrition.
- Registered Nurse
- Experience in maternal and child health or public health setting preferred.
- Starting salary: $25.02/Hour
