The Foundation for Better Health is committed to aid the numerous programs, initiatives, and responsibilities of the Vanderburgh County Health Department.  This non-profit organization dedicates its efforts to furthering the mission, vision, and goals of the local health department in order to improve the health of our community.

Board of Directors

President - Timothy Hubert

Tim Hubert is an attorney whose practice has covered a broad range of Business, Real Estate and Commercial matters. Tim was born in Evansville, Indiana. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Sciences from Indiana University in 1975 and his law degree from the Indiana University School of Law in 1979. He is currently a member of the Evansville Bar Association and the Indiana State Bar Association. Tim is also an active member of the National Diocesan Attorneys Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys. He currently serves on the Board of the Vanderburgh County Health Department and the Board of the Catholic Diocese of Evansville’s Priest Retirement Fund.

Secretary/Treasurer – Joe Gries

Joe Gries has worked with in county government for over 25 years. His career started in the Knight Township Assessor’s office. In 2005 Joe became the Chief Deputy Auditor supervising the county’s finances and payroll departments. Joe was elected Vanderburgh County Auditor in 2010 and 2014. In 2015 Joe joined the Vanderburgh County Health Department as the Administrator and has worked closely with the Health Officer, Board of Health, and staff to continue to improve the public health services provided to our community. Since working for the health department Joe has helped the department to become accredited by the National Public Health Accreditation Board. He has help to increase funding for local public health programs, and worked with numerous local organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Member – Lynn Herr

Lynn Herr is a registered nurse that has practiced for 35 years in Maternal Child Health. She serves as the Director of Clinical and Outreach Divisions at the Vanderburgh County Health Department, Fetal Infant and Child Fatality Coordinator and leadership for the Pre to 3 home visitation program. Lynn was born in Evansville, Indiana. She received her ADN from the University of Evansville in 1984 and her BSN from University of Southern Indiana in 2013. She has been a certified pediatric nurse since 2009. Lynn serves on the board of Building Blocks and a member of the Talent 2025 initiative.

Member – Kim Hermann

Kim Hermann has built a life focused on her family and those less fortunate in the community. Kim is actively involved with Evansville’s hospitals. Kim was instrumental in leading the campaign for Evansville’s Ronald McDonald House. Kim is a long‐time board member and past president of the YWCA, where she left her mark through the start‐up of a valuable college scholarship program for at‐risk girls and numerous other activities. Kim graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a focus in accounting and business management and worked for Peabody Energy.

Member – Jeannie Browning Hester

Jeannie joined the funeral home in 1982 as a recent graduate of Indiana University Kelly School of Business and later Mid America College of Funeral Service. She assumed ownership of the funeral home in 2003. Supporter of Vanderburgh County Women’s Fund, Reitz Memorial High School, Central High School, University of Southern Indiana Foundation, Vincennes University Foundation, Indiana University Foundation, IU School of Medicine Evansville Campus, Habitat for Humanity, Camp Carson, St. Anthony’s Soup Kitchen, Christian Fellowship Church, St. Vincent’s Women’s Hospital for Children, Kennel Club, LST Memorial Ship, Evansville Vanderburgh Public Libraries, Willard Library, WNIN, Ronald McDonald House, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Daughters of American Revolution, St. Vincent DePaul, Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and YWCA.
